I've actually only just read about this on Nathan Bransford's blog, but thought that it was a really good idea, especially just before Christmas.
The basic concept is that as a blogger I pledge to donate a certain amount to the charity Heifer International for every comment my readers make on this post.
Never heard of Heifer International? Well, here is a little info.
From Heifer International's website:
Our Mission
Heifer International's mission is to work with communities to end hunger and poverty and care for the Earth.
It all started with a cow.
Moved
by the plight of orphans and refugees of the Spanish Civil War as he
ladled out meager rations of powdered milk, Dan West, an Indiana farmer,
volunteer relief worker and Church of the Brethren member, grasped that
the people needed "a cow, not a cup"—cows that could produce milk so
families would not have to depend on temporary aid. From that simple
idea, Heifer International was born.
I have to admit, I like the practical nature of the charity.
So I'm signing up for the fundraiser.
For every comment on this post by the end of the year 2012 I will donate $1 towards the charity.
Feel free to share this post around, the more the merrier, and if you want to help even further, go to Nathan Bransford's post which lists all the blogs he knows of doing the challenge, and comment on them all!
Thanks everyone!
Yours,
Buffy.
Update: at the time of writing this update, 89 people have viewed this post, but only 6 have commented. I would be close to raising enough for a llama if you all commented! Don't be afraid, leave just a 'hello' comment if you can't think of anything else to say.
Update 2:
Here is a list of the other blogs participating (taken from Nathan's Website).
Why not make the most of your time on the internet and comment on all of them?

ReplyDeleteI feel like a lone moose standing in a great forest, and then in the distance, echoing off the tall peaks, I hear a cry. So I lower my antlers, pound at the ground, and fill my lungs to bellow:
llllaaaaammmmaaa!
